Lawrence Snow is a writer based in Arvada, Colorado. His debut novel, The Teller of Tales, will arrive in December 2020.

Lawrence Snow was born in Denver, Colorado, in 1953. His fondest childhood memories are of weekend visits with his Irish Catholic grandmother; escapes, more like, from the chaos of sibling rivalry and diaper duty—some scents never leave you. He’s a product of parochial schools taught by Dominican nuns in white floor-length habits and long black veils. Thankfully, no rulers were broken over young Lawrence’s knuckles. Football and track kept Lawrence busy; reading kept him sane.

Summers were spent working in the family’s construction business. Building and renovating everything from office buildings to churches with craftsmen eager to share their knowledge appealed to Lawrence, a career path that lead him to pursue a degree in engineering. At Colorado School of Mines, an English professor assigned Lawrence’s freshman class to keep a journal. Though he groaned about it, that semester-long assignment proved to be an invaluable lesson in maintaining balance amid life’s challenges.

Journaling saw Lawrence through the struggles of running a business, raising a family, recovering from an unexpected divorce, embarking on an even more unexpected second marriage, and blending two families. Journaling also served as a catalyst for a shift from left brain to right brain when Lawrence traded his hard hat for a pen and began to write.

Two of his novels have been selected as finalists in Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers’ Colorado Gold Writing Contest. A trip to the west coast of Ireland spawned a story, The Teller of Tales, that his left brain is still trying to figure out.
